Mario Tennis: Aces

July 2, 2018

Last week I heard about a new Mario game that could rival one of the greatest games of all time, Mario Tennis. The Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64 is one of the funnest games I've ever played. With high replay value and a good challenge as you complete all the tournaments with the characters. The new game is Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch.

At first glance the games look very similar in game play. Something that other Mario Tennis games since the N64 lacked. The good in game physics made this game feel very natural to play. The game wasn't too cartoony even though all the characters are. So this weekend I stopped picked up a copy of Aces to compare and hopefully relive my dreams on the courts.

At first go the games do feel very similar. Moving around the court is similar, using the tennis racket and powering up shots are the same, and they even brought back star power shots. There are new courts that look and feel better, and there is an adventure mode that unlocks new courts and extra characters. One major difference is that in Aces characters get all kinds of super moves. Like they can move all the way across the court, slow down time, and make super power shots easily. I don't know that I love all the new power moves, but I'm still getting used to the game.

One new feature is that you can play online, through the switch. I'm looking forward to this feature. I need to make a Nintendo account though. Once @crazyCarl gets a Switch I'm sure we will battle endlessly, probably causing a rift in the space court continuum.

I made a new Magic deck, Vampires.

Dark Forest

May 17, 2018

Yesterday in Breath of the Wild I entered a dark forest. At the entrance was a single torch and a flame to light that torch. As I entered I put on a glow in the dark outfit, the Radiant Armor. It is basically like a Halloween costume that glows like a skeleton.

I have no idea what else lies in the dark forest, but I do know I'll scare anyone who tries to sneak up on me.

Crossy Road

May 11, 2018

I've been playing Crossy Road on my phone for about a year. It's been a fun game to keep me occupied in small moments. Like waiting in line, going to the bathroom, or whenever I need a mental break. My high score on my phone is 527, but in the Pecking Order challenges I've gotten over 1,000.

We also have the game on Apple TV at work. My high score there is 849. And I've also gotten over 1,000 in the Pecking Order challenge. The difference with Apple TV is the controller. Which is very different than using your phone screen.

Breath of the Wild

This game is beautiful. My first impression was that the world is very believable and full of details that impress. Easily one of the best Zelda games to date.

I'm trying to play this game without any spoilers or too much help from other people. Simply discovering each area of the map and figuring out puzzles and locations on my own has been a lot of fun.
