Mario Tennis: Aces
Last week I heard about a new Mario game that could rival one of the greatest games of all time, Mario Tennis. The Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64 is one of the funnest games I've ever played. With high replay value and a good challenge as you complete all the tournaments with the characters. The new game is Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch.
At first glance the games look very similar in game play. Something that other Mario Tennis games since the N64 lacked. The good in game physics made this game feel very natural to play. The game wasn't too cartoony even though all the characters are. So this weekend I stopped picked up a copy of Aces to compare and hopefully relive my dreams on the courts.
At first go the games do feel very similar. Moving around the court is similar, using the tennis racket and powering up shots are the same, and they even brought back star power shots. There are new courts that look and feel better, and there is an adventure mode that unlocks new courts and extra characters. One major difference is that in Aces characters get all kinds of super moves. Like they can move all the way across the court, slow down time, and make super power shots easily. I don't know that I love all the new power moves, but I'm still getting used to the game.
One new feature is that you can play online, through the switch. I'm looking forward to this feature. I need to make a Nintendo account though. Once @crazyCarl gets a Switch I'm sure we will battle endlessly, probably causing a rift in the space court continuum.
